The Queen of the Banshees has seen hundreds of civilizations die and had caused their
deaths. It used dried up planets. In the late 1990s a forgotten statesman, Dan Quail,
accidentally triggered a nuclear explosion, clearing the area as a landing site.
Thus, the space centre on the area was called the Dan Quial Space Centre. Mr Rush
shows Capt. Beesley the Spindrift (the ship from LAND OF THE GIANTS) like rocket
ship called the Frank Princess. Rush has a mechanical filter over his mouth and nose,
seemingly built into his face. Clones on the ship bound for Jupiter are in suspended
animation. Jen tells the captain that Blood is looking out after her and he tells
her that is why he told her to be careful. Passengers on board were impatient to
get underway: they had seen the Sludge Rivers of Montana, the polluted brown air
of the West, the great acid rain-causing factories of the East, the de-nuded mountainsides
of the Null Forests, even the big hole where Washington DC once was. They wanted
to get back to the lush green of Jupiter where man had only begun to screw with the
ecology. B-Wang rides in Blood's backpack. A heavy woman says, "We had to wait
here for these two." Blood says, "No, lard ass. We're moron watchers and
we heard you were here." A stewardess in a skimpy tight fitting bathing suit
like outfit tells them to extinguish all drug paraphernalia when the no dope sign
is on. Someone near Capt. Beesley (as they watch the ship blast off) barfs. The Frank
Princess bloated toxic smoke over the area as it lifted off. Blood asks Jen if she's
noticed that everyone on board is an obnoxious jerk. This the first time Blood has
been in space where he hasn't stowed away--space travel excites him. Jen wishes he
were stowed away. Blood takes a drink (the company is paying) from another stewardess
and B-Wang accidentally spills a bit. It seems to burn through the bulkhead. Blood
has two laps of hair hanging from the front of his hair. Blood jokes that the stewardess
union has it in for them but Jen tells him she is a Banshee. Blood says, "Thanks,
Guts." Blood wants to drill the bint but if he fires, the bullet could depressurize
the plane. In one panel, Jen is called Pam. Seibek was a sacrifice. The ship they
were chasing was not full of Banshees. The ship they were on now was full of Banshees
amid fat, pampered tourists. They back up to the door, Jen reporting each step. Blood
says, "The suspense is killing me. I'm gonna pee." Jen tells him to just
back up, calling him a twit from over a crotch shot of Blood. Back on Earth, screamers
locked him up. He shoots at all the passengers and bullets punched through the hull.
Blood asks Jen if she saw them pop, "It was great. They blew right up."
Jen finds the crew. Blood shoots through one's head. B-Wang in suspenders thinks
Jen's idea of hiding out in the hold is a Jim Dandy idea. Blood says, "Plan!
Shman! Let's shoot everything that moves." Jen asks him to do it her way this
time. He says, "Fine. Fine." They go down a hatch into the hold. B-Wang
tells Jen to keep ready as the hold seems alive with veins and spongy floor. It was
a hatchery for the aliens. Jen thinks they are never going to get out of this but
Blood says, "Easy Jen, as long as we're together, remember." B-Wang finds
the alien queen of the Banshees. Jen and Blood feel it in their minds, a rape of
mentality. It became hard to think. Blood wasn't really human so he was able to shoot
at the Queen, despite her trying to put him into a trance like she has with Jen.
They get to a saucer shaped escape pod and launch out. The ship turns and tries to
ram them. The clone ship hits the passenger-Queen Banshee ship. The Queen ship blows
up. Jen in her bed is glad to be alive (on the Clone Ship). The Banshees were so
much space dust. She and Blood were on their way to Jupiter...maybe. At her door,
Blood is in a tank top with a kerchief around his head, tied, and long button up
pants. B-Wang is in bed with Jen. Blood thinks somebody is gonna be pissed. He cross
wired the sleep computer and activated the Education Channel. "I figure the
clones will be awake and ready to crew this tub in a day or so. You still want to
go to Jupiter or become pirates?" Jen says, "The possibilities do seem
endless, Blood." |
