Blood kicks a door in to find his most valued snitch--the druggie Ripple Dipple.
Ripple has wires into dozens of parts of his body including his naval and top of
his head. He tells Blood that Vanilla Fats' HQ is at the Silver Towers. After Blood
goes, Dr. Fats comes out of the darkness and pulls the Methy A juice wires out of
the man. Ripple's face turns to veins and skull. B-Wang hates Jet Board which is
how Blood travels. Fats calls Johnny--a big man with an antenna plate on his head.
Blood wears a short cut shirt beneath his leather jacket and he shoots it out with
Johnny and others on flying boards, killing Frank, shooting him under the arms. He
also shoots Davie and blows apart another one's head and body, "Ooh, I love
this job!" B-Want uses a stick to smash another's face in the teeth. Two people,
a man and woman watch Blood face off with the last thug. "The lower classes
are so primitive. I do wish they'd take their silly games elsewhere," the woman
says as she and her man eat ice cream--he a cone, she a triple scoop. Blood eases
the off switch on his jet board and drops, then jets on and up and away behind the
last thug who thought he blasted him to atoms. Blood shoots the last thug in the
back of the head. The thug's stray bullet hits the lady who has springs in her head--a
robot? The man tells the dead thug that he shot his beloved Esmeralda--now he will
have to order up another soul mate. As the man thinks about a new replacement--one
with blond hair and big hooters, Blood rides by and steals the ice cream cone. B-Wang
bets it is delicious--he's never had it---it is not even the fake plasti yeast kind.
Blood pulls him on board, "You're gonna nag me until you get some, aren't you?"
B-Wang says, "Does the Pope shit in the woods?" Another thug--this one
being Johnny (the thugs all look the same--Johnny clones?) and George pull a rope
on Blood between two buildings. One thug falls. Blood wants to blast the rope in
half but finds he lost his gun. Blood loses his jacket as they fight and hit a plasti
canvass. Blood flips Johnny over so that he lands under him and dies, lessening the
impact for him! Still, Blood has some blood coming out of his nose and is unconscious.
A face watches from behind a sewer grating. A rat knows the bodies will lay there
like all the other bodies. No need to rush for a meal. B-Wang, on the jet board,
crashes into a building, somersaults, gets to a ventilation grating, and spies on
Dr. Fat and a small man with some bald spot on his head. The two have Professor Greenman's
brother in a sensory deprivation tank floating in water in a suit. Greenman and his
tree hugging "fools" as called by Fats are against him and think the brother
is a hostage. Fats orders the brother flushed and when B-Wang is found ("Some
animated teddy bear on a jet board") he is to be dismembered. After a week in
the tank, the brother has told the location of Greenman's lair. Tomorrow they will
be attacked. B-Wang has to warn Blood. The little man says, "I love it, sir.
I love it." Greenman's underground HQ--Greenman, a dark haired man has Blood
on a table, lying down, unconscious. He is alive, bruised but alive. Greenman plans
to attack Fat's place and rescue his brother and get back a key. Despite a promise
to be concluded in "an up-coming issue of VOl. 2 # 2 of DRAGONFIRE, this story
was never finished. |
