Homer brings in John A. Keel, a real world writer who wrote THE MOTHMAN
PROPHESIES. He introduces the others, not remembering Lee's or Neji's last names.
Neji is wearing a slightly short cut shirt and asks Lee to hand him the copy of the
book for Mr. Keel to sign. John tells the readers that in the back of the comic you
will find an editorial about the new printing of his book. John breaks the barrier
between reader and character to do this. Barry and David are sitting right over there
in the restaurant. John also wants to mention the NY Fortean Society. Lee thinks,
"Comic book?" John called Homer to move the meeting to this morning since
last night one of the largest crop circles ever found upstate. Washington DC: The
President has requested files on Kohl Drake. He asks Christina to tell Miss Hamilton
he wants to see her and to check on the car and Mr. Kilhr. He also mentions Air Force
One. Miss Hamilton comes in wearing a two piece bikini negligee. Maire meets Keel
before he leaves. Homer is supposed to meet Hotachi in a short while. Neji and Lee
want to go with him. Canadian Shield tells Simon not to go, telling him he must have
an appointment with his uncle. Kohl can't get Simon out of it and Kam thinks it will
be okay. Shield will not let anything happen to him but will sit down and talk to
Sam man to man. Shield rough houses with Simon's head. Shield leaves until the 9PM
meeting time and tells Kohl to remember his suggestionóóa hair cut, also calling
Kohl "son" again! Shield even gave Kohl 20 dollars to get a haircut. Kohl
tells Kam to tell Maire the rest, "Oh yea, it was 20 Canadian dollars."
Maire picked up Mark's things from the police. Maire found a leadóthe pudgy doctor's
records have been erased and he, too, has disappeared. He only started working there
since the monster attacks. Nobody knows who hired him and his files in the computer
has all the proper security clearances and credentials. The paper work authorizing
the doc's working there is missing or as the hospital figured just got lost.Shield
takes Simon to Sam who thanks him for saving Simon. They both tell him Homer pulled
the boys out of the sea. Shield tellsSam that he is just visiting. Simon is told
to go get his book for Mr. Keel to sign. Simon says, "Real subtle." When
Simon goes, Shield tells Sam (calling him son!) that Simon is a good boy with a strong
sense of morality and frankly, he thinks Simon is a homosexual but that there is
nothing wrong with that if he is. He sure when Simon gets older he will fight for
truth, justice, and the Canadian way. Shield tells Sam he is doing that now. Shield
tells Sam to worry about how Simon covers himself and not to worry about his little
friends but worry about Simon hanging around with Kohl and the others of Dragonforce.
Mattman is in normal business clothes, ranting about a book he couldn't read being
sold to him as well as a map that made Maire mad, too (in an upcoming Mattman adventureóówhich
I don't think ever materialized). Now he has a ring which he can't get off his finger,
a ring which is supposed to give him eternal life and powers. Shield, Kohl, Kam,
and Maire are in the tunnels, Kohl sensing a force. Kohl's wings come out on their
own. Shield moves forward at the gray aliens but he and Kohl are knocked down, Kohl
bashed into a wall. Maire makes a move to hit one with her powers but an eye ray
blasts her down. A horned alien is there also. The aliens seem too see a ring, then
see Kam raise her sword, then blast someone with a Kohl dragon logo on his chestóóperhaps
the horned alien. To confuse us even more, Tiger Ring is on the cover of this issue!
The last shot of this story is Kohl, Maire, and Shield all down and hurt, maybe dying.
The aliens bow to Kamakazi. |

Backup story: "Dragonring part 2"
Story by Lee Fong; inks by Lee Fong, Shen Fong, Kimmi, Chi, and Sushi: Gen
drives a jeep of Neji, Lee, and Perrigrin in the desert. The boys in their costumes
are sweltering from the heat. Gen suggests they take them off. Lee says, "You
wish!" They head at Istanbul, hoping Simon has their hotel room ready. Neji
grew up here, nothing has changed. Lee looks at their almost being out of gas, mad
that Simon's uncle only sprang for one plane ticket. Simon flew and the others got
to take a boat and a three day jeep ride. Gen tells Perrigrin not to complainññit
was his idea to come here. Perri complained a lot in STRATONAUT also. Perri said,
"I feel drawn to the middle east by; my magic ring." Dragonfire believed
this and sponsored this trip. Perri tells them it is hard to explain but ever since
the found this ring, all weird things have happened to him and only Drake understands.
Gen says, "And he ain't playin' with a full deck!" Gen is on holiday. Neji
tells them this is where he first met Ramone (more evidence this is Neji from LEATHER
AND LACE)ññRamone was a touristññit was a very happy time for Neji. They go to the
hotel bathhouse, Gen wondering if this is safe. The man with the pipe tells them,
"Yes, the weird little American boy said you'd come dressed like infidels."
A buck toothed curly topped kid runs, "Must tell the great and bulbous one." |
