Elflord vol. 2 #25 Aircel, Dec 1988, b&w.
2 Elflord vol. 2 #25 cover The foursome arrive at a small coastal town in the hopes of a rendezvous with their ship. Alabaster sends for a Master Shade who has been here since Bran, the king, has outlawed the Shade Order in the Capital. The Shade tells Alabaster it is because "a boy king wets his bed at the thought of us." Alabaster mentions the Pirate King's problems with Hawk Erickson, Windblade Greensleeve, and Turo Tourhan. The Shade says, "They helped put Bran on the thrown." ? The pirate king wants to fight Hawk alone, thus the Shade must get his "serving boys" out of the way. The Shade doesn't trust magic but "cold steel." He asks Alabaster to cross his palm with silver and tell him where the boys are. He will slice the whelps. Windblade and Turo's costumes were designed by Adventures Beyond Greenhaven contest winner Deana Sapp. The boys are hungry; Hawk tells them it is a wonder they don't explode with how much they eat. Windy says, "We're growing boys, Hawk." Windy wonders if they will let him sing for them. "I haven't done that in a while," Windy says. Hawk thinks, "Thank the Spirit." Wraith is shirtless beneath sheets, recovering before a worried Vulture, who sent Greylone packing when he failed to trap Windblade and Hawk. When Greylone deserted Wraith, Windy's powers rushed over him like a wave. They are on hard ground, which Hawk's foursome will not be for once. Greylone is on a mound, needed power, wondering how everyone hates him. He has a staff and still wants a white haired elf. He feels like a failure (and here reminds me of Dr. Smith in LOST IN SPACE—THE OASIS episode when he was no a mound, planting a flag over his buried tape, thinking he was dying). Windy plays the guitar and sings. Hawk can't figure it: the rural town likes Windy! Turo thinks he is pretty good...sort of. Hawk tells him Windy's singing reminds him of a poor cat he once saw fall into a wizard's boiling cauldron. Turo, who's hair is very long now, jokes that if Hawk tells him that, he may turn them all into McTutts. McTutt uses drum sticks and a drum on stage with Windy. Bran is called to a small palace just outside Greenhaven to the Gentleman's master wizard. Purebreeze, Falcon, and a page are with him. Bran tells him that they know all he does. Bran keeps no secrets——he says. Greylone and Overlord are caught in a time loop of some kind and this involves Ichi. The Wizard believes Ichi's mind is still in Dao's body which is underground and full of power. Bran calls out the royal guard to go below first thing in the morning. Hawk tells Windy his singing is like the gentle caress of a warm summer breeze. The Innkeep agrees. Turo, shirtless, is under the sheets in the hotel room, looking at the map. Shade Master spies on them from the window, holding onto the building somehow. In another where, a call from the other side calls Nendo back to Elfheim. Windblade banished her to this Nether Plane. Someone wanting to wreak havoc on Windblade is calling her back, "Nendo's coming home!!" The cellar gate: a masked guard goes to another, Anik, telling him about the mission of Bran's into the tunnels underground. Little Gremlins grab the two and take them away while the giant Srithwaits for the king.
