Hawk, Dao, McTutt, Wimple, and the muscle man now called Tork by Hawk enter the mines.
Cindrian tells him they kinda miss Turo and Windy underfoot. Orin wakes up Turo,
for they and some other near—naked elf boys are going to escape. Ichi has an eye
as a clasp on his cape near his neck. He is naked under the cape. Greenhaven will
be his toy and Bran will not be able to form a single thought without Ichi, his hold
on Bran tightens everyday. As Hawk's group moves through the water filled cave, monsters
attack them, bony things, slimy things with eyes and fangs. Wimple can't work his
magic, "Oh woe is me." Turo's four boys break the lock on their cage and
get out. The Srith makes a blast occur and a horned lizard giant man—monster breaks
out of the ground and grabs one elf boy in his fist. The things are gone, the Srith
having been distracted. Hawk says, "Poor Dao, there's no sign of him."
Cindrian says, "We'll pray for him later." Dao is hanging over a pool of
pointed rocks sticking up. His shirt has been ripped off and he wears very little
on bottom now. He climbs through a hole in the ceiling and sees the Srith with Windy.
Turo and Orin attack the Srith. Dao jumps on the Srith Zuran's back. Orin moves to
give Turo a sword to cut Windy loose but Orin is turned into a werewolf—elf! Turo
has to stick the sword into its head and out its throat to save Dao from it as both
Turo and Dao fight it. The werewolf changes back into the boy elf Orin, dead. Zuran
tells them they are little bastards and should get ready to shake hands with the
Great Spirit. Hawk shows up and cuts into Zuran's face, "Enough, scum. It's
time to answer for your sins." Windy kicks Zuran and ducks at Hawk's request.
Hawk slices into the Srith. It is dead. Hawk tells Windy it is not over yet——Bran's
got to pay for all this!! |
