SYNOPSIS
Mitch, Bill, and John Biggs are running outside at the same time as Toshiro Kimura. This is John's first meeting of Toshiro. They have a confrontation on a wall which ends with them both in the water and friends. One of the men mention Toshiro has fixed up the old firehall. Carol Heatherington meets with Velvet Black about a cult living in the sewers of Ottawa. Velvet tells her that Toshiro has severed all ties with her and her operatives and that she no longer works for the UN. Sherwood Drive Clinic: Marianne and Toshiro meet and he asks her to go to a Tinker's Curse concert at the Carleton University. Marduk is below ground with his many boy servants (clones) and a mouseñhuman. He pushes one of his clones into a pit so that the failed experimental monster mutant octopoid can eat it. A fight breaks out with some instigating ruffians (who look like leather clad mutants with fangs). John and Toshiro beat them up. The last page of the story has someone (Richard King) beaten up in an alley on his back while a gang of approximately nine mutants watching, having already done this.
  Backup story: "Splinters part 3"
ONE OF OUR SPLINTERS IS MISSING
Written and Illustrated by Marty Pahls

A quite surreal story in content and presentation. The boys are hanging around (Alex seems to be playing Hawk Eriksen and Windblade). Someone put a toad in Cuffy's underwear drawer. Alex climbs into the window (someone mentions they thought it was Godzilla). Other kids are playing monopoly. Another thinks about the electric paddling machine Alex escaped from, even though Alex hid out in the woods from Dr. Vokra, who didn't know Alex was gone. Cuffy tells about a tentacled hairless monster in the woods. Vokra uses spycam screens. In the labyrinths, Simon Stringfellow, who he will use to turn into a toad, is attacked by a giant frog. He knocks it down a chasm, skateboarding across a plank first. Simon mentions his father. The boys go swimming. Alex finds that the others boys do not remember Simon. Cuffy will still be Alex's friend even though the Kangaroo Court (of kids) sends him to coventry. A giant toad watches the boys. The captions at the end promise the next installment to be titled TEST TUBE TERRORS.
REVIEW
Toshiro puts together a small band of followers and they have an initial rumble with the "rat packers" who are in some way connected with the strange semi-human dwellers in the sewers. There is a two-page sequence revealing that Marduk has a base in the deeper tunnels far below the city. Toshiro's romance with Marianne has heated up to the "kissing" stage.

The back-up story Splinters continues in much the same vein as before. Simon is lost in the labyrinth beneath the school, being pursued by a monster toad. It seems that Dr. Vokra (a.k.a. Arkoff) has developed a special type of gas which causes the other boys to forget that Simon ever existed. Only Alex is unaffected. Can he save Simon?

Samurai art same as previous issue.
