1 Samurai #19 cover SYNOPSIS
Bank Street, Ottawa, Canada: Toshiro and Mary plan a picnic. Richard King was found with his head bashed in with Rats Rule scrawled near him. Velvet Black meets Kamakazi with Homer waiting outside. Kamakazi has wolf boy servants which she got from a former association with Marduk and Arkoffñññboth of whom she tells Velvet are connected with Cuda. Kamakazi tells her about Cuda. Kamakazi has a network of spies in the Orient. Black had sent Quan to the South China Sea to help Dragonring against Cuda. The girls decide to go to the Orient to help, leaving Toshiro to battle the rats here. Biggs, Ruby, Miller, and four others (one a woman) go to the sewers (Tunnel 27) to battle the Rats. Marduk is there with a smaller crawling octopoid called Zilch (who eats a clone boy). Marduk also mentions wanting his own theme song or mood music, like elevator music or a real gothic style pipe organ. Toshiro shoots clone boys who are part of the army of Marduk in order to save his friends. Marduk sees Toshiro is still alive. Marduk claims he cloned Toshiro into Hotachi. John tells Toshiro he could kiss him. Toshiro uses a pointed star on a clone who has a bazooka which causes a cave in, going awry. King drank too much and talked too much as Father Tucker tells Toshiro. Toshiro feels the time for talk is over.

Corley usually tries to copy Alex's quiz answers. Alex feels Simon is trying to contact him. Alex tries to get Yue and Lee to talk to him. Vokra gets interference on a psionic levelóóóAlex. Simon is lost in tunnels while the other kids (except for Alex) have forgotten about him). Simon feels someone trying to communicate with him. Simon hears screams of kids and finds a torture dungeon or chamber. A giant frog is going to eat tied up boys. Simon trips over an alarm which sounds just as Vokra is chloroforming and kidnapping Cuffy from the deserted pool area. He plans on the boy's life juices animating his amphibious carnivores. Vokra hides Cuffy in a suit of armor. He uses forget fog to cloud the kids' minds to forget their missing friends. REVIEW
Velvet Black has a meeting with Kamakazi in which they decide to join forces against a threat from a criminal organization in the South China Sea called "Cuda", a crossover to DragonRing. This will be the last we see of Velvet for a while. Meanwhile, Toshiro's ill-prepared band enters the tunnels with the intention of wiping out the "rat packers". They are far outnumbered and are almost trapped by Marduk's clone army. They manage to escape with some difficulty and a number of casualties.

The back up story Splinters continues. In issue 19 Alex is sent to "Coventry" because he keeps talking about Simon--whom none of the other kids can remember.

Pencils are by Barry and Pat McEown with inks by Guang Yap. The combination of Barry's pencils and Guang's inks is particularly good.
