Serpentyne #1 Night Wynd, 1992, b&w.
1 Serpentyne #1 cover by Blair and Cooper
Greenwich Village: NYC: a boy with a short cut shirt, a vest, and shorts is cornered by four men, one of who sticks a sword in the boy's back and out his chest as the boy cries and bleeds from the mouth.
JUNGLE HEAT: Tasmania: Eric, Troy Adams, and a man named Rocco are in the jungle. Eric feels as if they have been here before like in a dream. Rocco asks Troy if his kid takes drugs. Troy tells him he is not his kid and has a headache. Eric is wearing shorts and a shirt with the bottom half mesh and the top fuller but sleeveless with a necklace and charm. Troy and Eric go out onto a log over a ravine. Eric keeps getting strange feelings (what is he, Alex?). Rocco has slipped Troy a drug which only gave him a headache. He knocks Eric and Troy off the log. He works for someone named Serpentyne who would have his balls if he let the two live. Eric is getting water when Troy wakes up. Rocco comes and grabs Eric from behind but slips and cuts his own head with a macheteóknife. Eric wonders, "Oh, jeez, why can't things ever go easy for us?" NYC: Washington Square: Kimura's Classical Ballet Academy: Gen gets the boys to work more, telling Lee, Simon, Neji, Adam, Timmy, Bill, and Joey to stretch. Simon is wearing glasses and a pentagram necklace. Lee has a mohican type haircut which Gen makes fun of. One of the boys looks like Alex! Homer (or it might be Troy) brings Inspector Blaylock of the NYPD to Gen's. Blaylock says, "It smells like kid in here." Gen tells the class to get lost. Sam Stringfellow, Simon's uncle is here to pick up Simon (who wears a number 8 on his jacket). Billy's sisteróóZak tells Gen she thinks it must be tough on her when Gen tells them all that she just found out that Peter was killedóóhe missed class today. Sam asks if Gen needs his help. Simon and Neji are hugging each other, "Uncle Sam, can Neji spend the night again?" Sam says, "Very well but be quiet this time!" Someone was watching as Gen said goodbye to the boys and Sam (who thinks the two of them smell). Chelsea: the killer with long hair in back and short in front (the killer of the boy, Peter, is smoking a cigar) tells a mysterious person that he "bopped the little faggot like I was told." This has been for some powerful "bitch" as the killer calls heróónamed Serpentyne. The killer knows Hotachi will be pissed when he finds out what happened. Madagascar: festival of the dead: Serpentyne fires a machine gun at the dancing crowd. Her servant Lupid is to gather the bodies. NY: Homer convinced Gen to go out and in a pub (where Zak tends bar and seems to own the place) Homer finds Inspector Blaylock to chew his ear off with more war stories (WWII, the Big War, also when he was trapped in a glue factory in Jamaica Station). Zak and Gen talk. The note left on the body of Peter was addressed to Hotachi: some kind of threat to him. Park Avenue penthouse: Neji and Simon goout. Neji is Simon's best pal and feels the streets are safe when they are together. In checkered shorts, Neji laughs, "Oh Simon." They head toward Village Comics to visit Joe. The same gang of killers is watching them. Sam turns on a screen, smoking now that the boys are gone and says, "Go ahead Velvet, I know you're listening." Velvet appears on his screen and tells him that since the death of his brother, "we" stayed out of the Stringfellow family affairsóóshe won't tell him how to raise the boy. Two of the men (these two seem to be black or Puerto Rican) pull knives on Neji and Simon, "You gonna die, fagletts," and also say, "...gonna cut you up into little pieces," and "Little pink pieces." From out of the shadows, comes Hotachi who is attacked. Hotachi buries his sword in one and runs it out. Neji says, "Gross me out or what?" Two of the men drop but the one with dreadlocks runs off. Neji, bending over (and his shirt rides up with wear) with Simon to keep down, says, "Oh Simon, we in so much shit, man."
