FOREVERGREEN PART 9óAramak has Windkin in a cell far below the temple. Aramak is
jealous and Windkin tells him that is a human sickness. Aramak leaves him in the
dark to rot, so he won't have to look at that smooth face...and see his own so long
ago. "You and time are my enemies and I will not look at you again!" Kimo,
purple hair and eyes, tells Dart not to do anything rash and to be careful. Dart
says, "Aren't I always," to being careful and to being rash, 'You make
me sound like a Hmmmmm..." Yun tells Chot he could a bath. They are in the same
attack canoe. Dart, Dodia, and two human males are in one canoe. In another frame
PeióLar is in the canoe behind Dodia. Suntop and Jethel come running, very tan now.
Suntop wants to know why he is not going. This is only a scouting party. Suntop never
got to telling them where they are hiding Windkin and he is getting tired of being
ignored. Jethel says, "I'm kind of used to it..." Shenshen arrives and
the pair say, "We're not children!!!" She didn't say they were this time.
Suntop's eyes look green. He tells Shenshen that his sister is going to be chief
and she's just a big pest (at this point NEW BLOOD is about a year behind HIDDEN
YEARS). Windkin calls to Suntop, his little brother. He tells Suntop they don't think
about death much. Suntop warns Dart by sending to him. Auroa, the human girl is crying
near Door, weeping for him, for what has been and what is becoming. The two slave
boys, one in purple and the other in red loin cloth, watch. Auroa loses Door's concentration
so she sends her two slave boys to PeióLar to warn her of what is happening. Door
yells, "HHHHHHhhhhate," and fires a red beam of stars at the boys, making
their feet stuck in the red muck it makes at their bare feet. Door calls himself
the Attained One. "I am all that remains of the Black Snake!" Squarr, a
fat warrior is with another warrior called AhnóLai and Ahn Lai is in green face paint,
yellow and black striped strip of studs crisscrossed over the chest and a matching
jock strap with long orange hair. His face and butt cheeks are painted blue. They
are also with a spotted bald muscle man who has a sword and brown thong over brown
belt and a smaller muscle man with brown hair and a green sling across his chest
and green head band. With them is a muscle man with blackógreen hair and green wrist
bands. Leading is GeóO'Ka, still in Windkin's uniform and he also had green paint
around his eyes and he insults Ahn Lai, asking him if his mother tells him scare
tales when she tucks him in at night. GeóOóKa sees Pei Lar and will have her head
on a stick. He has his warriors follow him to get her. PeióLar thinks, "So you
think, child..." In the trees are Chot, Dodia, Yun, and Dart. Dart leaps down.
The humans scream, thinking these demons. Dart says, "Yes, forest demons come
to kill humans!! And eat their hearts!!" He elbows one and makes blood come
out his mouth. Chot reminds them these demons steal food, all they can eat. Yun hits
one on the head, "Chot!!" Dart tells them they don't have to kill the humans
and GeóO, they scared them enough. AhnóLai isrunning away as Dart has captured Aramak's
bratóówondering why is wearing Windkin's clothes. Tired, Willowsnap alights on the
window of Aramak. Ahn Lai comes to report what happened, joined by the large white
haired muscle guard just as Aramak makes a joke about Pei Lar being someone much
quieter than his woman as she nags him. He nearly strangles Ahn Lai. He throws him
to the smiling guard and tells him to put Ahn Lai alongside the Sky SpiritóóWindkin.
Aramak orders any survivors of this mess to be killed...he doesn't need any tales
of spirits helping the rebels who lurk in the streets. The woman hopes GeóO is dead.
The guard takes the begging boy by the hair. Aramak tells himself, "The time
for cleansing is at hand. The time for the green jungle to run red with blood!" |
