BLOOD'S END part one: Door introduces Dodia to his servants, whom he says, he has
chosen to save. Chot thinks a knife thrust to Door's guts might be their only solution.
Dodia might survive the pain of a recognition cut short but who will let them out
of their prisonñña giant wombñegg that Door has trapped them all in to save them
from the fire. Kimo, Yun, and Shenshen have come back and found the tree but there
is nothing left. Kimo will find his soul brother; Shenshen tries sending to Suntop.
Ahn Lai, Suntop, and Jethel are on a log, paddling with a piece of wood, looking
for the bend in the river. Has the fire changed the river? Ahn Lai wants to find
his people, telling them Door would never let his people die. Jethel tells him Door
would want to kill them himself. Ahn Lai defends Door, "How Dare you say that!
And how can you talk about one of your own that way?" He hits Jethel with a
paddle stick. Jethel tries to punch him but apologizes to Suntop who yells, "Enough!
You'll cause us to tip over again!" Suntop must clear his brain up, the smoke
and dust has made him muzzy. His sendings feel weak. Door had hoped Windkin would
be like a son to him but Windkin has vanished...probably thinking his independent
thoughts of his. Door plans to sire a whole race of gliders. Chot is about to jump
at him with his knife but Dart pushes him against the wall. Dart tells Chot to think
of Door's spirit. He won't let Chot throw their lives away. Yun helps Shenshen down
a hill to where the egg is...not many trees around. Kimo gasps, "What has Door
done?" Kimo is able to send to Dart, who answers back. Kimo runs to the shell
of the city, the whole place sealed up. Kimo bangs on the shell, promising to get
Dart out, crying lots of tears, "...we came to this terrible place to free Windkin
and we've been deceived, attacked, and tormented ever since! I...I hate it here."
Yun runs at Kimo. Jethel keeps having to counter Ahn Lai's defense of his people,
whom Jethel claims kill everything. Suntop is getting tired of their fighting. Rocks
are in the river since the trees holding back the dirt burned down. It causes them
to bounce up and over and then down. The river goes faster and faster. Suntop is
thrown with the log but his two companions are gone, "No! Jethel!! Come back!
Don't leave me here! Jethel! Ahn Lai!! Don't leave me here...they're gone." |
