1 New Blood #35 cover BLOOD'S END part three: Door spreads his legs and crosses his hands, telling them their usefulness has worn out. "I have mated with your little Dodia so that I may have a childññwhen my heir is born then even her blunt usefulness will run out!" Dart thought once there was a way to reach him but he claims he was thick, even more than Door himself. Dart tells him he would beg the High Ones to forgive him if he knew what being an elf meant. Door tells him to watch it, he might make his ending more artful but as it is might make him suffer only a short time. Door claps. Dart triesñññfiguring his reason can't be all gone. Chot tells Dart that Door dances only to a tune that he can hear. Door tells Chot that is perspective. He makes the floor give out under Chot and Dart but the fall doesn't kill themññit will be Door's pleasure to do that. Chot tells a recovering Dart that there is always hope. Door tells little wolf Dart that he created this place and doesn't need to see. He can feel every bit of rockññevery touch it feels. Door will teach Dart how to breathe stone. Dodia hears the fighting. The bald slave wants to go see what it is. The one with hair thinks it might make the Master angrier. Dodia wants to see what is happening to her friends Dart and Chot. Door slaps Chot, then picks him up. Dart's enticing threats make him drop Chot. Door tells Dart he is his powers when Dart told him not to hide behind his powers. Dodia arrives (the bald slave boy goes with her with a torch). Dodia tells Door this is wrong...he is feared. He is not loved or respected. The two argue about the humans. Door wanted to guide the humans, not hide from them. She tells him that his people hid tooññin Blue Mountain. Suntop tries to reason to Door. When Door first sent, he sent to Suntop. Suntop wants Door to remember the beauty of what he sent to Suntopññthe beauty of Forevergreen. Door gasps, "Yes...yes, the magnificence I beheld. The first time I was able to see. I can still feel..." Dodia holds up a stick, "Forgive me, sire of my child!" Door turns, "Wha? NO!" Door feels all thought drifting away. Dart grabs Dodia to him, Chot says, "What did you do?" The egg dissolves. All humans flee. Chot or Dart says, "My heart is fullññweññare together again..." Chot says, "No...not all of us..." Kimo yells, "Dart!" He holds Dart's shoulders after running to him. Dart doesn't think things can ever go back the way they were. Dodia hopes they can rest now. Chot stands up, "Fish guts! It's not over til it's over. And as long as one of us is missing I go on! I have always been for the good of the tribe, forsafety, for Dart! I know some think me a fool or that I am too quick with my tongue or too ready with a bladeññbut I live by my own honor, my way. I would give my life for any of you. But we're not all here. And I can't rest. I am going to find Jethel! Clear paths..."

Far north...Human men hail Ahn Lai, who has his hair up in a pony tail, a shoulder cape and a longer cape held by a clasp, tights, short boots, and a tunic. On an ancient scroll: "And there will one day be a fire and death, akin to the end of the world but the world will live again. And one of strange visage will come from the fire, bearing with him a spirit with eyes as of fire. This one shall one day stand before us!"

Jethel tells them they shall build a larger port, build faster ships, not be cut off from the world, trade with other cities, and make contact with the great Junn across the water. Ahn Lai says, "You see, I know a thing or two about rulers. There was one called Door and I studied his ways. And, after all, it was I who brought fireñeye hereññon a leash!" While everyone is busy with the new boyñlord, three lowly servant boys (as one addresses himself and his two pals) who think it will be fun to taunt and threaten Jethel, go into his cell. They tease him, wanting him to do something. He tells them he is flesh and blood. Jethel says, "Why do your kind always fear and hate what you find different?!" One boy pulls a long knife, not fearing him. Willowsnap is at the door and webs up one boy. The other with the knife tries to kill Willowsnap but he webs him up also, the knife falling. The cub thinks it is dream and he is back in bed. Jethel tells him it is and all he has to do is stand still and it will be over. The wide eyed boy asks, "Really?" Willowsnap webs him up. Jethel, who had gasped at what that five finger cub was going to do to him, thanks Willowsnap, whom showed up just in time. They run out. And a new legend begins...
