FOREVERGREEN PART 1óIn the rain, Dart carries Shushen's body away, leaving, despite
Savah telling him the Sun Folk look to him. The Preservers wrap more villagers to
escape starvation while even sharp eyed Scouter has scant success hunting small game
that has survived. One female elf makes water come from a rock. Dart and others tunnel
through rock for more living space away from the bad air. Mender has seen through
the clearstone to the sky and plants are growing, thus they can eat. Ahdri has grown
a garden. Cutter and his wolfriders are mentioned (see HIDDEN YEARS #4). Dart is
daydreaming of Strongbow and Moonshade, his parents. He tells this to Newstar. Dart
finds Preserver Littlesky and wants to go into Sleepyplace for a long, long time.
Serrin, the daughter of Wing and Behtia, uses a knife to cut Dart out. Even cocooned,
Dart knew they were to be mates. They have sex and recognition but the purple haired
now naked elf female tells him she has a lifemate. Dart tells her he does now. Talmah
feels Serrin's pregnant stomach. Soon she has a son named Bowki, a yellowóredóbrown
haired boy whom Dart teaches the art of bow shooting when he grows a bit older. The
son, Dart tells her, is her's, Talmah's and his, Dart's. He is also a child of the
desert. Newstar tells Savah she sees something she hoped for long ago...a smile...on
Bowki as he shoots a wooden target. Among the war wounded who wait are Dewshine,
Scouter, Dart, Mender, and Newstar. "Shade and sweetwater, my friend! It's been
a long time since I've seen that red thatch of yours," Mender cuts Dart out
after he went back in after raising the boy. "Why did you wake me, Mender?"
Dart thinks he spent the time lying on broken rock. Mender smiles, "Same old
Dart!" Dart is in a most revealing outfit, his chest nipple area and stomach
areas bare in cut out of the semi outfit he wears. Dart asks why he cut him out this
time. Mender says, "Easy, thistle mane!" Windkin welcomes him back to life.
Windkin is wearing his own revealing kind of outfit, an almost one piece with stomach,
arms, hips, chest, neck and almost everything else bare! Dart says, "Windkin?
You look...so different!" Mender says, "Careful Glider, he's in a bad mood."
The huts, the mountains are bigger. The humans are getting too close. Dart says,
"And you woke me to solve the problem?!" He walks off leaving Windkin to
sigh loudly. Dart tells Kimo who comes out, that Shushen is long gone but never forgotten.
Ahdri's rock shaping has kept them out of sight from the humans but Dart feels they
are still going to be found out. Chot is out and complaining, "Yak Yak Yak.
The great leader. What's he going to do, talk them to death?" Suntop sighs,
wearing a purple top with sleeves rolled up, and blue tights around a tie belt. He
leansagainst a fence, near Chot, who grouchólike, seems to imply he should leave.
When Suntop apologizes and moves to leave, Chot tells him to hold up and talks with
him, no one else will, he tells the boyólike one. Chot is cutting up an apple, his
green shirt open. Suntop is very tan. Chot asks him about his magic and how powerful
it is. Suntop is supposed to be practicing with Savah and his aunt Shenshen arrives
to take him, calling Chot a troll eater to Suntop. As Chot walks past two other elves,
one says, "Hey, Chot! All's forgiven! Join us?" Shenshen tells Savah she
does not like her sister's child talking with that foul smelling Chot. Suntop says,
"I'm not a child." Savah tells Shenshen that everyone has something to
teach, useful or otherwise. Savah asks Suntop if he is ready to begin his studies..."I'm
sure we can find a challenge for one as grown up as you!" Suntop smiles up at
her, "Oh, Savah!" Windkin talks to a Preserver about what a perfect morning
it is and how it took a long, long time for the village to be more than just a hole
to survive in. Willowsnap, the Preserver tells him that holes are not so bad and
that his crazy talk makes Willowsnap's head hurt. Windkin laughs and flies off a
tower perch from his high up apartment (with curtains). He flies across the sky,
lit up by the huge sun in the sky. |
