Sylvie wakes up yelling. A dog was sleeping with its head on Koni's back. Koni tells
the spider that scared her that he'd better get out of here before she remembers
him. Arro's sleeves are ripped off. She scares the complaining Arro with a worm.
Jethel tells them maybe she is rightóóeven Zwoots and wolves in Sun Village didn't
like fleas very much. Jethel wants to try to start another Forest Tree. An elf in
a high up tree thinks he is not making this any easier, thinking Jethel is a little
dung head. Ahn Li orders around his miserable little whelp servant boys, threatening
to send them out into the wilderness. He also chastises Ahnessah for wanting to keep
the spirit alive, Ahnn Li wanting to have skewered him. He kicks out a boy who drops
something. Another boy, dusting or something, tells another boy it is getting worse
since FireóEye appeared; the other boy whispers that Koni didn't make it any better
vanishing. Koni looks like he has a gap in his buck teeth. Sylvie is getting annoying
as they look for a tree. She demands it be clean and have enough rooms for everyone
to live in their own. She also will refuse to allow the dogs inside with them. Arro
tells her they like playing with them. Koni is on his stomach as a dog licks his
face and he hugs another one. He wonders about his friend Bren, the black boy. He
is in an alleyway. After his mama and papa died, his uncle took him to Lord Ahnn
Li's house where AhnnóLi would teach him things and take care of him better than
his uncle could. "They're all liars!" Bren says. He misses Koni. No one
will want to take Bren in after Ahnn Li tells them about him. The old woman with
the scarred face holds his head, calling him a little lostling. This is Old PeióLar
who will take much better care of him. The others find a large enough tree finally.
Willowsnap thinks Littlegold Bigthing is gonna yatta yatta and she does. She makes
them carry rocks away. Arro falls asleep on one of many comfortable branches. Next
day or later: Arro and Koni play in the water instead of bringing it to Sylvie. Sylvie
thinks the boys are silly, even Jethel, even if he is older. She has flowers in her
hair and plants flowers. They now have a home. |

Windkin #1 |
|
|
|
A grandchild asks grandfather to tell him a story. They seem to be human and talking
about a mother who is in town and the child asks to hear a spirit story as they tend
to the mother's garden. Windkin seems to have his wings. Windkin goes to the remainder
of the bridge where Ahdri died and looks at the starstone. He picks a star shaped
flower that has grown and smells it. He drops it. He is in a skin tight black outfit
with tights. The humans still call the desert a burning waste but have well springs
all around their area. Windkin flies over two people who are rotting, near skeletal
corpses...who have no water (the man and woman). The boy is told a story about a
boy lost in the desert near death (Yahan), who collapsed. Is this the grandfather
when he was a boy? Yahan has theback of his tattered clothes, the front totally naked.
Vultures come onto the boy. Windkin lands and turns the boy onto his back. The grandfather
tells his child that he wished, once, that he could fly. He tells the story as if
it were he that Windkin carried to his friends and family. Yahan's mother or someone
who loved him, a heavy set woman hugs him, smiling, glad to have him back. "Love
can teach some interesting lessons sometimes..." Windkin brought Yahan back
to his people. Other humans watch his reunion. Some seem angry at Windkin but he
flies off. |
