Elflord vol. 2 #8
1
This is my favourite cover of all Eflord issues; second is Elflord vol. 2 #11.

Swords bloody, Hawk and Ravenclaw are locked in combat as trolls move in. Sparrow gets Falcon but Falcon is sliced across his chest by Ravenclaw, who leaves the trolls to finish Hawk. Ravenclaw grabs up a page boy in his hand and seems to choke him to death.
Sparrow sees to Falcon but a shadow looms over him. Sparrow sees the shadow of a sword––Ravenclaw's. Shadow Market: Nendo faces Bran, the girl, Windy whose new white shirt is ripped down the back, Garth, and the Gentlemen's Club. When Windy raises his voice to Nendo, she will kill him. Cloudshadow doesn't want her to. Windy has had enough and blasts Nendo, who snaps, crunches, and pops into a small blood ball. Cloudshadow snaps the crystal ball and Fen's head bursts into a blood ball which pops.
Falcon wakes up to find Sparrow's body sprawled across his legs. Ravenclaw confronts the queen but Hawk arrives and kicks him back. Ravenclaw tells Hawk there can be only one. Cloudshadow had put Ravenclaw back together again. They fight in a series of wonderful frames. As Ravenclaw tries to kill Hawk, Hawk puts his sword into his chest from behind and then turns, "Now, you son of a bitch...there can be only one." Hawk rips Ravenclaw's head off with his other sword. The Queen comes running and tells him a whole series of silly things––things that she should have meant and felt before––about being wrong for banishing Windblade and about her being a bad queen... Hawk punches her with a backhand, "Ah, shut up." The troll army fails and is driven off. The next morning, Purebreeze tells Hawk this is a good time to leave. Windy says, "So much lost. Such a lost." Hawk wants to go after Cloudshadow. Falcon, his chest bandaged, his stomach bare, in an open purple jacket apologizes to Hawk, telling them he lost Sparrow. Hawk shakes Falcon's hand, "Till we meet again, Falcon."

Part 2
Hawk makes Windblade take the wheel of their sand skimmer as they are being chased by another sand skimmer run by raiders. Hawk fires a kind of rifle that launches a spear into a raider and out his back. It then blows up. As Windy goes "nuts" as Hawk says, another sand skimmer appears. Hawk chops at one man on it as it gets close to them. He then jumps onto another and they fight on the sand. Hawk takes the raider's head off. Windy asks, "How do you stop this thing?" Hawk faces another raider and butchers him. Windy pulls Hawk back on board as he did stop. Hawk looks at him as the boy looks up at him heroically. Night: Hawk sleeps shirtless near a fire. Windy eats when he is nervous. He is eating apples. Hawk can't get sleep as Windy talks and then muncheson apples. Hawk gives up and talks to him. They will find a caravan, then go to Cloudshadow's territory. Windy tells Hawk he is lucky to have him, especially since trouble seems to come his way. Windy asks if they will be all right. Hawk is snoring. Windy continues to eat the apple.
