Stargate vol. 1 #2 (writing & layouts)
Entity Comics, Aug 1996, colour.
Stargate vol. 1 #2 cover Story: Essentially the same story as the first STARGATE movie, part of a STARGATE universe of continuing comics and novels, novels being STARGATE, STARGATE: REBELLION, and STARGATE: RETALIATION. The comic went on after the movie and had more adventures. Since Barry Blair was involved with issues 2 to 4 only and not issue 1 nor any issues after 4 and this VOLUME, I will focus on the issues 2 through 4. Each issue had two covers, one of those annoying ploys to get people to buy the same issue twice. I think that stinks. Anyway, one cover would be a photo cover and the other cover would be an art piece (usually the better of the two, especially Barry's cover although issue 1 has a great cover of the alien structure that looks like a Pharaoh). Issue 4 has a Special Edition. All four issues were put into one graphic novel. Issue 1 has some stunning photos from the movie and is worth it for that. The graphic novel also uses some excellent photos. This issue begins with the 1928 discovery of a Stargate in Giza, Egypt. It goes on to introduce Daniel Jackson, Catherine Langford, the top secret military base in the Colorado Rockies, Colonel Jack O'Neil, General West, Kawalsky, going through the Stargate, the encounter with the riding beast, and the meeting of Skaara and his sister and their people. Skaara wears a robe like shawl, a short cut top (sometimes), a scarf like material around his neck, long braids, and a sometimes hood-hat, along with pants of some kind. At the end of the issue, the servants of Ra appear.

Colonel O'Neil and Daniel Jackson are presented to Ra. O'Neil gets one of the lances and threaten Ra, but the kids come around to protect their leader. Jackson is deadly wounded.
Outside, locals are playing with what they found in the camp, but spacefighters fly out of the pyramid and destroy Nagada. People are not all dead, but a lot are wounded.
Jackson awakes from the healing sarcophagus and is headed to Ra, who orders him to kill his friends, in order to restore faith. The ceremony begins, but Jackson turns the lace towards Ra, while some locals use tommy guns to help.
Back in a safe place, Jackson tells about the bomb, and O'Neil has to explain.
